Join us to gain the knowledge and skills needed to respect and respond to diverse patient populations, communicate effectively with patients across a broad range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and describe the assets and resilience of the community that can inform patient care and support improved health outcomes.
Led by a multidisciplinary panel, we seek to enhance medical education by equipping learners with the skills and strategies to integrate community engagement into medical practice. This ECHO emphasizes professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills, and systems-based practice to foster health equity, address social drivers of health, and meet the unique needs of diverse patient populations, particularly those with limited English proficiency (LEP).
All healthcare professionals and interprofessional learners from diverse disciplines, including primary care physicians, medical specialists, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, community health workers, other allied health professionals, and community-based organizations serving diverse populations in New Jersey are encouraged to attend. The series will also engage medical learners, such as residents and fellows, alongside residency and fellowship program directors, program coordinators, and faculty, to advance community engagement in medical education.
After participating in this ECHO, participants will be able to:
